THERE ARE A WIDE RANGE OF FEES AND THE QUALITY OF INSPECTIONS RANGE FROM WORTHLESS TO PRICELESS.

There are numerous factors to consider when determining the cost of an inspection.  The number of square feet is often used as a factor but items like the type of exterior, 1 story vs. 2 story with access to the 2nd level and the type of roofing are also just a few of the factors to consider.  

The cost of a home inspection is very small compared to the value of your new home, less than .1% of the purchase price, but an inspection is worth more than you could pay.  Surveys show that the national averge basic home inspection price is approximately $450 by a certified master inspector.  In the Bay Area, they are often higher than this.  The fees charged by Housecheck Home Inspections generally are somewhat less than the national average.  You should expect to pay somewhere near the national average, otherwise you may be cheating yourself out of the highest quality inspection.  A professional inspector can save you thousands of dollars down the road and maybe even save your life.  A certified master inspector earns his fees many times over.  (Please see our Clients' Testimonials.)
